WHO: Anyone looking to redefine or add a pop of colour to their lips.
There are many reasons people choose to have a lip blush treatment, whether it’s to add the illusion of volume without harsh lip filler or to regain the symmetry and shape we can sometimes lose over the years. This treatment can create a soft blush affect helping to restore your natural lip colour or you can opt for a more defined shade if you simply love a particular lipstick shade but don’t want the hassle of reapplying it every 5 minutes. Treatment one is very detailed as it’s here we will rebuild your outline which creates the perfect silhouette within which we can build the colour. Numb cream is applied throughout the process making it a very comfortable procedure although the feedback I’m getting is that it feels like a scratching sensation (I actually had a client fall asleep!) For me, it’s a slow methodical process hence the duration as the lip tissue is bursting with nerve endings and blood vessels so slow and steady wins the race.
What will I look like immediately after?
You will experience some swelling in the hours immediately after and depending on many factors some clients can remain a little swollen for between 24-48hrs. I use cold compresses during the treatment to minimize this and you can continue to apply one at home afterwards. As the guide colour in the pigments are stronger than your healed result, you will be rocking a generous pop of colour or 4-6 days post treatment after which time the excess will peel away and your true healed result will be revealed although it can be up to 3 weeks for the colour to truly settle.
Why must I come back for a 2nd treatment? As the lip is such a delicate area, the healed result after T1 can be a little light in patches as we must ensure not to over work the skin. At top up (approx. 8 weeks later) you have the option to deepen the colour further, crisp up the outline although most people choose to keep the outline soft for a more natural finish and even out the overall colour.
How long does it last?
Skin cell turnover varies from person to person, for example if you suffer from dry lips or have a habit of biting your lips – you will break down the colour faster but typically clients like to return anytime from 2yrs for a colour boost.
Who is contraindicated?
As goes for most PMU, clients taking blood thinners and other prescription medication may not be suitable hence why, a no obligation consultation with Aileen is necessary in advance. Likewise, coldsore sufferers may have to obtain anti-viral medication to take immediately after treatment to prevent a breakout which would result in rejection of pigment and distortion of the tissue in the area.
